Now and Always: Lenten sermon series begins March 1
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I’ve commanded you. Look, I myself will be with you every day until the end of this present age.”Matthew 28:19-20
The Holy Land – modern day Israel and Palestine – is often called the Fifth Gospel. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are the four Gospels in the Bible, the books that reveal to us the good news of God embodied in Jesus. Walking in Jesus’ footsteps around the Holy Land is a way to experience the good news of Christ in real, tangible and physical ways.
This Lent, we will journey through the Fifth Gospel following the life of Jesus. As we encounter the places he was born, baptized, taught, healed, suffered and finally was executed, we will look at who God is through the life Jesus led. We will see that God is on the side of the marginalized; God is love and calls us beloved and beautiful; God teaches us in our everyday lives; God heals us; God is the ruler of all life; God suffers with us; God lives now and always.
During this season, expect the Bible to become more than old words on a page. Get ready to encounter God through the journeys Jesus took—now and always.
