Our community’s five values flow from our shared commitment to live in the way of Jesus.

We are authentic

We care for people because Jesus cares for people. We see beauty in relationships that are formed in God’s design of mutuality, dignity, and trust. We are passionate about caring for all people in need, from our own families to brothers and sisters around the world we may never meet. Our community is built on a foundation of sacrificial and selfless service to God and with others.

Luke 4:16-19, John 13:14-17

We are inclusive

Jesus eats with everyone. We live with radical openness; there are no barriers to entry in this church. The church is an extension of the life of Jesus. Like him, we welcome people of every ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, ability, culture, and income. Our community wants to reflect the full breadth and diversity of our neighborhood.

Matthew 19:13-15, Galatians 3:28, Romans 15:7

We are vulnerable

It takes courage to be vulnerable. You don’t have to be free of doubts or questions to be a part of our community. We all have questions about God, the Church, and the Bible; questions mean we are thinking and growing, and that is good! We believe the doubters and the questioners are courageous and bold. When we are vulnerable with our uncertainty and hesitations, we make room for God to enter.

John 20:24-27, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

We are creative

Artists are God’s truth tellers. Artistic expression of every type reveals the power, the beauty and the complexity of life with God. We embrace the power of visual arts, drama, music, creative writing and dance to communicate the mystery of God.

Psalm 8:3-6, Genesis 1:27

We are beautiful

We see God in the beauty of our neighbors, the Earth, and within ourselves. We connect with the story of creation and care about what happens to the earth.  Our lives depend on the life of the earth. We embrace God’s role for us as caretakers of creation, to preserve the beauty of nature in our rapidly developing community.

Psalm 8:3-6, Genesis 1:27
