On Thursday, I dusted off a favorite cookbook and brought out my supplies to make homemade bread. We were down to our last few slices of store-bought bread, and I want to be sure we had enough for sandwiches. I forget how amazing the simple act of mixing flour, yeast, salt and water can be. For two hours, I watched the dough rise and rise––a metaphor from our scripture lesson on Sunday that mirrors how the kin-dom of God grows in us to more abundance than we can imagine.
Every day during this quarantine, I see the abundance of God’s kin-dom overflowing in this community. You are checking in with each other, delivering groceries to each other, joining in worship together, gathering in small groups together. Some of our small groups have moved from meeting once a month to every week – an experience of abundance. Thursday morning we deliver the first of 22 Backpack Buddy boxes of food for elementary school families in our community––an experience of abundance. We gather for worship online and feel connected even though we are dispersed––an experience of abundance.
Speaking of abundance, we have something on the calendar for every day this week for you to remain connected. Our Care Team is starting to make contact with folks connected to our community.
